Under the headline "Geothermal lithium: dream or reality?" an international workshop on lithium extraction from deep geothermal waters took place at the GW-SDG in Paris on May 19, 2022.
The event focused on issues that will need to be addressed in the future as R&D pilot projects transition to industrial scale, such as the implementation of DLE processes, as well as the sustainable management of lithium resources.
Speakers included ES-Geothermie, Institut des Sciences de la Terre d'Orléans and BGR (DERA), as well as EnBW, which reported on the latest results of the joint UnLimited project under the title "Lithium from geothermal resources in Germany“. In this context, the main topic was the sorption method used for direct lithium extraction.
